Time Part 2
Anyone interested in the question of teachers and time and technology should read Jim Holland's When Teachers Don't Get It: Myths, Misconceptions, and other Taradiddle, posted over at Techlearning.com. Jim makes some pretty compelling arguments about the "I don't have time" issue. Here is an excerpt, about the complaint from teachers that there isn't any good software to use:
To be cynical, and with apologies to my well-intentioned colleagues, I wonder if software could speak whether it would say “We don’t have any good teachers to use.”Wow. He's even more frustrated than me. Requires free registration.

Wow! You have obviously forgotten how tough it is to get up in front of students every day. Time is a factor like it or not, don't bash us teachers just because you can find time for technology some of simply do not have the time nor can we justify using technology in our federally mandated no child left behind - content driven classrooms.

No, I haven't forgot about what it's like to teach-I still do that quite often. And I taught for 15 years, so its pretty tough to forget how classrooms work when you've done that for that long. I'm not bashing teachers; just saying that teachers are part of the equation when time is mentioned, but like some, all you have is excuses...and anonymous ones at that.
